When the founder Chika lived in the United States and the United Kingdom, she wanted her children to experience local cultures by interacting with local people as she believes in the importance of multi-cultural experience for children’s development. Moreover, she wanted to have such experiences for herself. There were always challenges – First, it was difficult to find an opportunity to meet people outside of her community. Second, it was difficult to express herself in English, her second language.

By establishing Kotch, she wants to make it easier for people to connect with others by offering a platform to use foods as a catalyst for communication.

Under the name of Kotch, she established two businesses.

Kotch Visit is a platform to connect people by arranging home visits to communicate over meals.

Kotch Japan is a food service to provide Japanese oriented foods.
